Sashiko Privacy Policy

Sashiko is an iPhone pattern-design and stitch-guidance app from AE Studio. You can use it without an app account. The app has no advertising, tracking or app-operated analytics service.

Photos and on-device processing

You choose the photos and screenshots to import. Image tracing, pattern recognition and photo preparation run on your device. Sashiko does not upload your photos to an image-generation service. Camera, microphone and motion access are used only for features you choose and permissions you grant. Sound-based pattern creation processes audio on the device without saving the recording.

Local storage and private iCloud

Projects, notes, reference and finished photos, stitch progress, saved patterns and favourites are stored on your device and can sync through your private Apple iCloud account when available. Swatch documents and imported yarn, thread and fabric catalogues are stored locally. Preferences are also stored on the device. Device backups are controlled by your Apple settings.

AE Studio does not operate an account server to receive your designs or access the contents of your private CloudKit database. Apple provides iCloud under its own terms and privacy policy. Optional Apple sign-in does not change the iCloud account selected in your device settings.

Optional Sign in with Apple

Where available, Sign in with Apple creates an optional profile on your device. Your Apple user identifier and the name you choose to share are stored in the device Keychain and are not sent to an AE Studio account server. The app does not request your email address. Signing out removes the stored profile and leaves your work and iCloud sync in place. Apple handles authentication under its own privacy policy.

Purchases and downloads

Apple processes App Store payments. Sashiko uses verified purchase entitlements to unlock purchased content and restore purchases. AE Studio does not receive your payment-card details. Downloaded lesson films and pattern books may be cached on your device.

Your choices and deletion

In Settings, choose Delete all app data, or Delete account & data when signed in, and confirm. This removes locally stored projects, photos, notes, progress, saved patterns, favourites, swatch documents and recovery copies, imported materials, downloaded content and the optional Apple profile. Deletions of synced records are queued through iCloud and sync when a connection is available.

Exported copies, device backups and App Store purchases are separate and remain under your control. You can manage retained iCloud data, backups and permissions in iOS Settings. To remove the app’s Sign in with Apple authorisation, open iOS Settings → your name → Sign in with Apple → Sashiko → Delete, or manage it at account.apple.com. The app shows these steps after deleting an Apple profile.

Sharing and external links

PDFs, images, material lists and editable project files leave the app when you choose a destination in the system share sheet. That destination handles its copy under its own policy. Pattern source links and other external websites may process information independently.

Terms and changes

The app uses Apple’s Standard End User Licence Agreement. The AE Studio website privacy policy applies when you visit our website. We update this page when the app’s data practices change.
